Most SEO audit reports fail for the same reason: they list every warning a crawler found, sorted by the tool’s categories, then leave the marketing team to guess what matters. A useful audit answers one question first: what should we fix this week so search can improve.
That is the standard behind our SEO audit services, and why we built AuditCrow to rank issues by impact in plain English. The product story - from internal check to a public website health check - is in how AuditCrow tells you what to fix first.
What belongs in a technical SEO audit
A technical SEO audit asks whether search engines can crawl, index and understand the site. At minimum it should cover:
- Crawl and index: robots, sitemaps, canonicals, redirects, HTTPS, soft 404s.
- Speed and mobile: Core Web Vitals, page weight, mobile usability.
- On-page structure: titles, headings, thin or duplicate content, internal links.
- Schema: whether structured data is present, valid and honest.
- Prioritised fixes: ordered by likely impact, written so a developer or content owner can act without translating jargon.
Keyword research and a content calendar are useful later. They are not a substitute for fixing a site that cannot be crawled.
Why reports sit unread
- Hundreds of “issues” with no owner or deadline.
- Severity scores that treat every missing alt attribute like a blocked sitemap.
- No link to business goals (leads, bookings, product discovery).
- Delivery as a PDF with no implementation path.
When organic traffic drops suddenly, start with indexing, redirects and recent launches before rewriting every page. Gradual declines more often need content and visibility work on top of technical hygiene.
What “done” looks like
A good engagement ends with either implemented fixes or a clear brief for your team: exact URLs, exact changes, and a way to re-check. Automated scans still help for discovery. Human interpretation decides the order.
If you want that kind of audit, send the URL via SEO and auditing. If the site also needs a rebuild, pair the baseline with website design and build so migration SEO is planned before launch.
